classical dance :

At Teresa International School, a lot of emphasis is laid on the complete development of the body, mind and spirit. Students are exposed to classical dance forms from an early age. Bharatnatyam, an ancient form of 'Natya Yoga' is taught from an early age. This genre of dance has evolved over the years demonstrating extremely graceful movements, where Bhava (emotion), Raga (music), Taal (Rhythm) and Natya (drama) combine to create an artistic rhapsody. Kathak, the classical dance form of North India, help children master the art of blending rhythm with movement, expression and footwork. It helps to build concentration and focus better. Students of Heritage are trained in the authentic Lucknow Gharana style of the dance form .

Mime:

Silence often speaks louder than words. Mime is a specialized theatrical form of expression and through its silent communion, students are able to bring out their finer emotions. This medium is used effectively for purposes of education in order to make the students sensitive about the environment and society around them. Students learn to deal with themes that depict various social issues. Stilt walking and rope climbing are also taught in the mime classes to bring about body flexibility.

Yoga Classes:

Yoga classes are conducted at different levels. It helps to bring about equilibrium of the mind and increase the concentration level. Daily exercises help to relieve the stress that students often feel while keeping pace with the demands of a competitive environment.

Clay Modelling:

Clay Modelling is taught from the Pre-primary to the Secondary level and is a perennial favourite of the children. The tactile, hands-on nature of this activity makes it engrossing for all age groups and also offers scope for a high degree of creativity. Students enjoy working on the Potter’s wheel. There is also provision for an electric furnace where firing of the artifacts is done.

Recycling:

Under Recycling, students learn to convert trash to treasure. With the help of used paper-cups, ice-cream sticks, bottles and old newspaper, exquisite craft and utility items are made. Students are thus made conscious of the concept of ‘reduce, reuse and recycle,’ from an early age.

Dramatics:

Dramatics is a very popular activity amongst the students. It helps to develop their communication skills. Here students not only learn the nuances of acting, but also the techniques of script writing, direction, set, sound and lights. Students showcase their art in various inter-school festivals, drama competitions and street plays.

Vocal Music:

Vocal Music is taught under the guidance of experts. Children learn to appreciate the various ragas that comprise the rich heritage of Indian Classical Music.

Creative Writing:

Creative Writing sessions help to make children better writers. Students are initiated to write stories, which are subsequently sent to publishers for publication. Presently, some of the Secondary school students are working on an anthology to recount their memorable moments in school. Besides, students are also sent on literary excursions and collaborations.

Western Music:

Western Music is taught under the guidance of professionals. Students learn to play the electric guitar, bass guitar, synthesizer, drums and also partake in singing activities. Students form their own musical band at various levels to perform at various inter-school festivals.

Quiz classes:

Quiz classes help to arouse the curiosity in the mind of students and help them to find out more about the world, current affairs and politics. Awareness of one's environment is the key to success in this changing environment and the quiz classes help to serve this purpose.

Creative Craft:

Creative Craft is an expression of the unique imagination of a child. Under this activity, children learn to make items like soft toys, chimes, cards, bags, decorative candles, table lamps etc.

karate and kickboxing:

The art of self defense is taught by instructors skilled in taekwondo, karate and kickboxing. Courtesy, self control, perseverance, integrity and indomitable spirit are the guiding principles of this group. Students here are strongly motivated to excel and bring glory to their school, state and country. They have won many laurels in India and abroad. Their motto - 'I shall be the champion of freedom'.
